RPM and Associates, Inc., a leading industrial service company in the western United States, is accepting applications for the position of Welder-Fabricator at its facility in Rapid City, South Dakota.

1) Primary Duties or Functions:

  • Safety is our #1 core principle. Immediately notify production manager of any safety issue or problem. Keep production areas and any other work areas safe, clean and organized. Safely handle parts and materials with appropriate industrial trucks, hoists, overhead cranes and associated rigging.
  • Read Blueprints - Welder Fabricators must be able to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. The Welder Fabricator will use the blueprints along with other data, such as shop sheets, to develop and design their welding projects.
  • Fabricate Metal Objects - Fabrication involves laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring and welding metals to create the desired shape or object. Weld components as directed and as per company, customer and/or engineering specifications. This is highly detailed work and requires the Welder Fabricator to be knowledgeable of many techniques and tools.
  • Inspect Work and Equipment - A Welder Fabricator must constantly inspect and test welds and equipment. Maintain all equipment as per manufacturer or company schedules, or as directed. Immediately notify management on any equipment that needs attention.
  • Professionalism - All RPM employees will conduct themselves in a mature, respectful and professional manner. Follow all RPM policies, programs and procedures.

2) Additional Responsibilities or Functions

  • Assist in the development of written process documentation as required and directed.
  • Make recommendations for tooling, fixturing, process requirements and/or equipment needs. This will be based upon procedures and company or customer requirements.
  • Shift work and/or travel will be required dependent upon customer needs and per company discretion.
  • Work with production and engineering to determine welding requirements, as required.
  • Keep production manager advised of usage and reorder requirements for consumables and materials utilizing company purchase order system.
  • Assist management in employee training.
  • Perform other duties as required and directed.

3) Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in fabrication & welding environment.
  • Knowledge of specific welding processes, such as TIG, MIG and ARC.
  • Must be able to understand and accurately follow through on verbal directions.
  • Must be able to read, interpret and accurately follow through on written work directions.
  • Must be able to create sketches for the creation of blueprints.
  • Must be able to perform measurements with standard measurement equipment and layout tools.
  • Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read blueprints and recognize welding symbols and specifications.
  • Knowledge of industry safety practices.
  • Ability to use heavy machinery, such as forklifts and cranes, as well as, use a variety of tools and other equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

4) Work Environment/Physical Requirement:

  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry and/or position 50+ pounds, as required.
  • Safety glasses, protective footwear which meets the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) F2413-11 performance requirements, and hearing protection are required in production areas.
  • RPM & Associates, Inc. operates a smoke-free and drug free facility.
  • There may be some bending and crawling. Employee may have to stand on feet for hours at a time.

The Administrative Assistant will perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. Duties of the Administrative Assistant include providing support to managers and employees, assisting in daily office needs, and managing our company’s general administrative activities.

Job Duties: (Includes but are not limited to the following)

  • Screen phone calls, redirect calls, and take messages
  • Greet visitors, answer inquiries, and create a welcoming environment
  • Carry out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning, etc.
  • Receive deliveries; sort and distribute incoming mail
  • Maintain supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies
  • Schedule reservations and provide subsistence as needed
  • Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Assist with assigned A/P tasks
  • Maintain A/P records
  • Prepare and print job packets – verify that all information is included and correct
  • Assist with assigned A/R tasks
  • Assist with bi-weekly payroll
  • Assist management with maintaining monthly inventories
  • Assist with assigned HR tasks
  • Follow all RPM policies, programs and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Requirements:

  • Associate/Bachelor’s degree in business-related field and/or 2-3 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, and general office administration
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Sage or similar software
  • Professional communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Must be proactive and a team player
  • Must have a clean pre-employment drug screen and background check
